I thought it would be metal but its plastic chrome that looks like metal. No real problem I guess. The way it works is by spinning a turbine inside that breaks the water up and make it feel like more is hitting you than really is. I bought two for the house and the only thing is it makes the water feel a bit cooler. My normal setting on the shower is full hot due to the fact I turned down my water heater a year ago to save money. When I go full hot now it feels a bit cooler. Perhaps it is the turbine mixing the water with air or it most likely is the fact my old shower head was a 2.5 gpm and now less water is hitting me with the new 1.5 gpm head.. I don't know. This one is by far the best. I have not yet tried Bricor. Note that Oxygenics is not really a low-flow, as it uses the maximum allowed (2.5gpm) until you turn down the volume with the little handle on the side. They both worked well for about 6 months and then the guest bath unit started to leak between the "ball" and the pivoting showerhead". It probably had 8 showers worth of use when it started to do this. I' have tried tightening everything I could and the leak just keeps getting worse. It just went in the garbage. The master bath unit seems just fine. I don't recommend taking a chance. ![]() The manufacturer commented on this review( What's this?)
