I was not sure how this shower head would work in replacing our 2.5 gpm shower head but I wanted to save water so I made the leap. I'm glad I did. We haven't missed a beat. Overall there was very little noticeable difference from our previous shower head. Measuring the flow of our previous shower head it was putting out a little less than 2.5 gpm probably about 2.25 because of some scale that had built up. The Niagra Earth massage showerhead seems to be putting out just slightly over 1.25 gpm. I installed my new Niagara Earth Massage 1.25 this morning and took my first shower with it. I couldn't believe that it was only putting out 1.25 GPM so I measured the flow. Sure enough it was using exactly 1.25 GPM. Before installing this shower head I was using a 1.0 GPM head that I had no problems with for a good 10 years. This head feels like it's putting out at least twice as much water and the force of the stream is good. I like the variable settings. I will mostly be using the "needle spray" and occasionally the massage setting (both ends of the dial). In the middle the water kind of sags out and I like a forceful shower. The massage setting only covers a small area but it's sufficient. You just can't to a large area and forceful at the same time with this little water. The water is hotter that my previous head that got it's force by aerating the water. I highly recommend this shower head.
